German commercial broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland has acquired a movie package from German rights dealer Tele München Gruppe.
The agreement, the financial details of which have not been disclosed, contains blockbusters which the RTL channels can show on German free-to-air television for the first time.
The line-up includes the three vampire movies Eclipse and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (parts 1 and 2), action movie Red Dawn with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), and German fantasy movie Rubinrot with Maria Ehrich (Das Adlon, Eine Familiensaga) and Jannis Niewöhner (Freche Mädchen 2).
The package also contains the free-TV debuts of comedy Zookeeper with Kevin James (Here Comes the Boom, Hitch) and Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Seven Pounds) as well as Peter Jackson's epos The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Also part of the line-up are older titles such as Terminator parts 1 and 2 with Arnold Schwarzenegger, three parts of the Rocky franchise with Sylvester Stallone, Wild Wild West with Will Smith and Salma Hayek, as well as The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
