Breaking news!! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just released a press statement detailing a shortlist of 7 movies that still remain in competition for a nomination in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for the 2014 Oscars. And guess what?! The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is in that list!
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that seven films remain in competition in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for the 86th Academy Awards®.
The films are listed below in alphabetical order:
“American Hustle”
“Dallas Buyers Club”
“The Great Gatsby”
“Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters”
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”
“Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa”
“The Lone Ranger”
This category traditionally includes three nominees, so on January 11th, the Academy will host a screening of 10-minute excerpts from each movie to the members of their Makeup and Hairstyling branch, and they will reduce the list as needed. The final nominations will be announced live on January 16th. The Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live by ABC.
Considering the competition, we think Catching Fire has a good shot at a nomination. How exciting! What do you think?
