A Chesterfield County boy has been cast for the third “Hunger Games” movie, “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.”
Kyle Price, 11, a sixth-grader at Swift Creek Middle School, will play the part of a boy from the newly formed District 13. He was in Atlanta on Thursday to get fitted for his wardrobe and will begin filming there next week.
Filming is expected to last three days.
By phone Thursday, Kyle said his parents took him to see “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” on Tuesday evening and surprised him with the news in the lobby of the movie theater afterward.
He said they were interviewing him about who he thought might be in the third movie and when he suggested Josh Hutcherson’s character Peeta Mellark, “My mom said, “No, you,’ ” Kyle said.
“I just started screaming,” he said. “I am very excited. I’m jumping out of my shoes.”
Jason Price said his son is a big fan of the movies.
The family learned about a casting call for the third movie in the series through Facebook. They submitted their son’s information and within 15 minutes, Jason Price said, “they picked him.”
“Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” is scheduled to be released in November 2014, followed by Part 2 in November 2015.
