Goodbye 2013 | Slogan Yam's Critic blog - We review stuff.

2014 is officially here, but let’s take a moment to reflect on all the things 2013 brought to popular culture (or more accurately, the things 2013 brought to popular culture that I actually care about).

Iron Man 3 fed us lies.

Man of Steel bored us to sleep.

Thor was passable.

Despicable Me 2’s box office numbers were anything but despicable.

Walt Disney saved Mr. Banks.

Mike and Sully attended college.

Disney thawed our hearts with Frozen.

People asked what the fox says…and it got old really, really fast.

Breaking Bad said Breaking Bye (yeah…I got nothin’).

WWE unified their world titles after a year of questionable booking.

Bilbo went face-to-face with Smaug.

Mickey Mouse got a horse.

Super Mario 3D World united families and destroyed friendships.

The Hunger Games caught fire.

We wanted more of The Last of Us (ironic, given the title).

Oliver traveled to another world.

Pikmin finally came back!

Zelda found a link to its past between worlds (what?).

John Cena defeated the Rock.

Luigi finally had his year.

We were promised to go back to Donkey Kong Country (and will in February)!

Pokemon went into the third dimension!

Animal Crossing stole our lives.

Metal Gear had its revengeance.

Grand Theft Auto was up for round five (more or less. Isn’t it actually like the eighth one or something?).

Jurassic Park returned…in 3D!

Sandra Bullock was lost in space… in 3D!

Dwarves + barrels = great action sequence! … in 3D!

Ron Burgundy’s legend continued.

Hayao Miyazaki’s unparalleled career came to a close with The Wind Rises.

And some other stuff happened. Happy New Year, everybody!
