According to Collider, Michael Douglas and his character were a surprise to comic-book lovers today. Michael Douglas has accepted the role of Hank Pym alongside Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Mac.
As a person who doesn’t know the Marvel world, I will try to explain this the best that I can. With Collider’s amazing explanation, I have deduced that Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) was the creator of the suit in the 60s, and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) stole the suit years later to save his daughter. Many comic-book nerds were confused on how they were going to incorporate both characters into the movie. Edgar Wright (director) mentioned in an article a few years ago that he wanted to have Hank Pym in the movie as a sort of prologue to Scott Lang’s story.
Marvel and Kevin Feige were very happy to have Michael douglas onboard and said this:
“With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”
