COMMENT | With ‘Hunger Games’ fans eagerly seeking out any new material related to the third ‘Hunger Games’ movie, there will be a lot of excitement about a new clip of filming that has surfaced which shows an intense scene from the forthcoming movie. It seems inevitable that with ‘Hunger Games’ fans starved of any new action from the series for a year at least that this new snippet of video, which can be seen here, will go viral pretty quickly.
The clip which seems to have emanated from someone working on the production, although it could have been provided by an onlooker, shows an example of one of the stunts from ‘Mockingjay’ being filmed. The scene clearly shows one of the intense scenes from the book in which Peeta is rescued.
Video footage was shot in the Marriot Marquis hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, where filming is currently taking place. The 15 second clip features three figures, who are presumably stuntmen, being rapidly lowered down on a winch system from the lofty ceiling of the hotel, while vast numbers of production staff and crew look on.
The scene puts into perspective the vast number of people involved in creating a movie of the size of ‘Mockingjay’ with literally dozens of people overlooking this very simple piece of filming. It is difficult to recognise whether or not any of the stars of the film are present at the time that the clip has been filmed, but clearly all of the major players from ‘Mockingjay’ must be resident in Georgia at present.
Unlike the previous two ‘Hunger Games’ movies, ‘Mockingjay’ will not be directly based on Suzanne Collins’ novel, with the third book of the series being split into two movies. Additionally, the director Francis Lawrence has already confirmed that there will be original material in ‘Mockingjay: Part I’ which does not appear in the book.
The first ‘Mockingjay’ movie is due to be released in November, 2014, with the final part of the series to follow precisely one year later.
