Mockingjay is most anticipated movie of 2014 | Mocking Jay Hunger ...

COMMENT | 2014 promises to be a big year for the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise, with the second ‘Hunger Games’ movie, ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ still coining in the takings at the box office, and, more importantly, the third ‘Hunger Games’ movie, ‘Mockingjay: Part I’ both being filmed and due to be released.

It goes without saying that all ‘Hunger Games’ fans will be eagerly awaiting the release of the the first ‘Mockingjay’ film, assuming all goes according to plan, but a recent survey has shown that the general movie going public are also looking forward to the sequel to ‘Catching Fire’.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part I’ has topped the movie website Fandango’s list of the most-anticipated films of 2014. The annual list is apparently based on votes from thousands of Fandango users, and saw ‘Mockingjay: Part I’ comfortably top the list ahead of other major films that are due to be released in 2014, such as the next ‘Hobbit’, ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘X-Men’ films. The fifth film to make the list was the movie version of a novel which has been compared to the ‘Hunger Games’ books, Veronica Roth’s ‘Divergent’.

The most anticipated movie is not the only poll run by Fandango; the site also runs a variety of other polls. Among them is the sexiest female in the movie industry poll, and there was more good news for the ‘Hunger Games’ principle player, Jennifer Lawrence, here as she carried off first place in this department. This will perhaps provide her some comfort after the drama of a stunt which went wrong on the set of the movie apparently left her close to choking to death.

‘Mockingjay: Part I’ is due to be released on 21st November, 2014, as the producers of the ‘Hunger Games’ series look to exploit the pre-Christmas slot which was a huge success for ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’. The fourth and final movie in the series, ‘Mockingjay: Part II’ will also follow a similar schedule, with the culmination of the ‘Hunger Games’ series due to be released on 20th November, 2015.
