If you’ve not heard of the Kickstarter programme, this is probably the best place for me to introduce it. Kickstarter is the world’s largest initiative to help struggling artists such as filmmakers, designers and musicians get funding for their projects. When TV show “Veronica Mars” was cancelled back in 2007 after just 3 seasons, fans have been holding out hope for it to make a return in some form. Now, with Kickstarter, their wish is finally coming true. Headlined by Kristen Bell, it resumes the story years after the titular amateur detective gave up that life. I have no affinity for the show or its star but I know there is a considerable cult following for it. Honestly, from the trailer it’s hard to see what the fuss is about, but like pretty much every other thing I’m willing to give this a shot.
Here’s what the film is about: “In the film, Veronica Mars has put Neptune and her amateur sleuthing days behind her on the eve of graduating law school. While interviewing at high-end law firms, Veronica gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Logan who has been accused of murder. Veronica heads back to Neptune just to help Logan find an attorney, but when things don’t seem right with how Logan’s case is perceived and handled, Veronica finds herself being pulled back into a life she thought she had left behind.”
“Veronica Mars” is directed by Rob Thomas and stars Jason Dohring, Chris Lowell, Ryan Hansen, Krysten Ritter, Percy Daggs III, Tina Majorino, Francis Capra Ken Marino, and Enrico Colantoni. It premieres 14th March.
