It’s been announced this morning that the Divergent director Neil Burger will NOT be returning to direct the sequels that Summit Entertainment have planned to release over the next three years. Insurgent is planned for in November 2015 followed by Allegiant a year later in November 2016.
No explanation to the reasons behind the departure have been given and production looked to have gone well. Could the reason behind it be a condensed filming schedule a similar occurrence happened when Garry Ross, director of the Hunger Games.Ross pulled out of directing the Hunger Games sequels after he recieved a release schedule for the Hunger Games sequels putting them a year apart.
Divergent will open in UK cinemas 4th April 2014.
